On May 16, Coastal Encinitas Rotary members joined hundreds of Rotarians from across North County for Rotary’s annual Epic Day of Service, a global day dedicated to hands-on community service projects that make a lasting difference.

This year’s North County project brought Rotary clubs together at Sage Creek High School in Carlsbad to build beds for local children in need, in partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization committed to ensuring that every child has a safe and comfortable place to sleep.

Representing Coastal Encinitas Rotary were Ralph Hirschmann, Jeff Dasch, and Jan Dickieson, who worked alongside fellow Rotarians from throughout the region assembling bed frames, organizing bedding materials, and preparing beds for delivery to local families.

The event united volunteers from numerous Rotary clubs, demonstrating the power of collaboration and Rotary’s enduring commitment to Service Above Self. Throughout the morning, teams worked side by side to help address a basic but critical need in the community—providing children with a bed of their own.

Epic Day of Service has become one of Rotary’s signature annual volunteer efforts, bringing together clubs around the world for a day of meaningful action. Projects range from environmental cleanups and food distribution to school improvements and community support initiatives. In North County, the bed-building project offered a tangible opportunity to improve the lives of local children and families.

For Coastal Encinitas Rotary, the event reflected the club’s ongoing commitment to hands-on service and community impact. Whether supporting local nonprofits, youth programs, military families, or regional service projects such as Epic Day of Service, club members continue to look for ways to make a positive difference close to home.

We are proud of Ralph, Jeff, and Jan for representing Coastal Encinitas Rotary and helping ensure that more children in our community have a safe, comfortable place to sleep.

Service Above Self in action.
