Carl Mostert is a dual citizen of the United States and South Africa, born and raised in the Western Cape winelands near Cape Town. With family roots in South Africa dating back more than 370 years, Carl initially studied Zoology and Botany before shifting to engineering, earning a Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg and an MBA from Henley Business School in the UK. He spent his professional career in the high-tech and software industries.
Raised in a wine-centered family—his father managed a Stellenbosch farm producing Pinotage—Carl developed a lifelong passion for wine. He has pursued extensive formal training, including the UC Davis Winemaking Program, the WSET Diploma, French Wine Scholar, and Certified Specialist of Wine credentials. Together with his wife Beppie, he shares this passion through wine tastings, supper clubs, and Wine ’n Wildlife travel experiences, guided by his philosophy: “Enjoying wine is a journey—there is always more to learn, and every experience is new.”
