ENCINITAS — Coastal Encinitas Rotary hosted its annual Be Thankful Happy Hour & Dinner on Friday, Nov. 7, gathering members and supporters for an evening dedicated to service and community impact. The annual event, which combines fellowship with charitable giving, once again yielded a substantial collection of household essentials for local families in need.
This year’s contributions will benefit Carol’s House, a domestic violence emergency shelter operated by the Community Resource Center (CRC), as well as CRC’s Transitional Housing Program, which provides longer-term support for individuals and families rebuilding their lives.
Although fewer members attended in person this year, the overall response from the club remained exceptionally strong. Many Rotarians who were unable to participate donated in advance, ensuring that the collection was both meaningful and comprehensive. Items included new pillows, linens, towels, comforters, stuffed animals, lunchboxes, toys, games, and gifts — all specifically requested by CRC to meet immediate needs for incoming shelter families.
“This effort speaks to the heart of who we are as Rotarians,” said Ralph Hirschmann, President of Coastal Encinitas Rotary. “Even when members can’t attend an event, they continue to show up in ways that matter. Their generosity helps ensure that families facing crisis are met with comfort, dignity, and support.
CRC expressed appreciation for the club’s ongoing partnership, noting that the donated items will be distributed immediately to families entering shelter or transitioning into stable housing.
Coastal Encinitas Rotary meets weekly and participates in numerous service projects throughout North County, supporting youth programs, local nonprofits, and community-based initiatives.
